Where's Whalley? Leaving Swindon

Swindon Town midfielder Gareth Whalley has been deemed surplus to requirements at the County Ground and is currently negotiating his release from the club.

Whalley joined Town from Wigan Athletic prior to last season and signed a three year contract under old boss Andy King, but saw his Town career plagued by injuries. Whalley who has played in the Premiership had his best spell at Swindon towards the end of last season.

Whalley had only featured in 2 games this season since coming back from injury against Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstones Paint Trophy and against Conference side Morecambe in the 2nd round of the FA Cup.

Manager Paul Sturrock had said that players would be coming and going in January and this latest move looks to free up some money to spend in the transfer market in January.

We wish Gareth Whalley all the best in the future.
