Nicholas Receives 20 Month Ban

Swindon Town defender Andy Nicholas has been banned from driving for 20 months after admitting drink-driving.

The 23 year old former Liverpool defender had been returning from a night out with team mates when he was arrested for drink driving.

Nicholas who has been a fixture in the first team since a broken cheekbone forced Jamie Vincent to the sidelines.

Nicholas has been fined and has received a 20 month driving ban but has apologized for the incident.

'I'm deeply ashamed and embarrassed by my actions. The courts have banned and fined me accordingly.' Nicholas said after appearing in court yesterday.

'It is totally out of character and upbringing. I would like to apologise to all those people I have let down, that's the fans, the manager, my teammates and, most importantly, my family, who are devastated.' Nicholas finished.

Swindon Town F.C may soon discipline Nicholas further. Mike Bowden told the Swindon Advertiser, 'Clearly disciplinary action will be considered. It is only right to say that this will be kept confidential and will be between the manager Paul Sturrock and Andy Nicholas.'
