'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Paul Sturrock Match Reaction

Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock gave his thoughts after Town's 1-0 loss to Grimsby Town.

'It is vital that we now bring in offensive players to take some of our players out of the team and put pressure on others. The offensive side of the club has reared it's ugly head today and when we don't influence the game you can't expect to win.

'We have agreed a deal with one club for a player and I am also trying to get another striker, as well as a winger. The one I have agreed with is one that I may take longer term and he will arrive on Monday.

'Lukas Jutkiewicz has not figured as much as he may have done but that may change now. Blair may also get a few more chances because he has done ok when he has come off the bench.

'I was hoping that the confidence would shine through but we haven't had a front pairing who play off each other, and that's a feature that we will have to find.

'Before Jamie Vincent went off the pitch I thought we were looking at a 0-0. The back four, our two central midfielders and the goalkeeper did fine but offensively we were not at the races. When Jamie went off we had to change things.

'At the end of the day we have lost ground but next Sunday is a day where we need to get a result.

'What I will do is give us every opportunity to be in the shake-up at the end. It's easy to say we could have done something earlier but I have tried to be respectful to the players already at the club, but that's over now.

'The sending off came at a time when we were chasing the game and I have no complaints about that one. I am really disappointed with the result because we have done some fantastic work over recent weeks.'

just been reading about him, scored no goals though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Atleast its a new face, and hopefully give us a target man. Paul S should know his strengths and play to them.

Like he is getting the best out of the rest of the squad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fola could have been a target man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
red_gilly
Fola ? everyone has their opinion, but he with respect, he meant well, knew what he wanted to do, but didn't have the skill and also gave away too many free kicks. Not for me I'm afraid. I don't think you can complain about the defence its just the strike force thats gone AWOL.
