Paul Sturrock Match Reaction

Swindon Town Manager Paul Sturrock gave his reaction to Town's 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town at the County Ground on Saturday.

'It could have been 2-0 to Shrewsbury in the first half when Asamoah went through there but I was delighted with the response we got from the players after the half-time break.

'Shrewsbury are a well-organised side and they are a very difficult to break down. We had to do our jobs and we made some changes in the second half to make sure we got the result we wanted.

'Christian influenced the game today as he did last week. I am very pleased for him and that's his position now. We had words with him at the break because he could have had two in the first half by getting in at the far post. Thankfully he did the right thing in the second half and got on the end of the loose ball.

'Barry Corr got another goal today although he isn't totally fit yet. He is doing the right things

'It was a very good result today because we have put some daylight between ourselves and some of the play-off teams. We want to close down the second place spot too. We need to put distance between the other sides.

'Rochdale are a very open and attack minded team and it's a scary prospect to go to on Tuesday. Hereford next weekend will be another test because they held MK Dons today.

'Something happened with Jerel at the end and we will talk to the referee and make sure we know what occurred. I did my usual and went down the tunnel as soon as the board came up, but his suspension could play an important now.

'We don't want to make changes but we will have to now. Dave Partridge may be an option for us and we also have Claude Gnapka as well but I will have a think and see who we go with,'
