Scarborough F.C Wound Up

Vital Swindon Town would like to pass on sympathies to fans of Scarborough Football Club, which was wound up today by the high court in Leeds.

Scarborough, a former Football League club had been fighting to build a new stadium after debts of over £2.5M started to build up several years ago. The Seadogs had hoped that by building a new stadium they could sell their current home the McCain Stadium to finance a new stadium and clear the debts that had plagued the clubs progression in recent years.

The club had several arrangements to pay back monies but relegations from the Conference and the Conference North saw income at the stricken club slow down dramatically and the club effectively ran out of time.

This morning the High Court in Leeds has wound up Scarborough Football Club.

Scarborough fans hope to form a new club and play at a lower division next season whilst ground sharing with another local club.

Very sad to see, never had the pleasure of going to the ground but have good memories of their past.
