Andy Nicholas To Stay At Swindon

Out of contract defender Andy Nicholas has said, thanks but no thanks to Stockport County. Nicholas has stated he wants to remain at the County Ground.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser Nicholas said, 'No disrespect to Jim Gannon and Stockport because they are a very good football club, but I want to stay at Swindon,'

Nicholas had been heavily linked with a move to Edgeley Park and reports out of Stockport stated that Nicholas was poised to agree a deal with County, preferring a move back north closer to his family.

Nicholas stated he is very happy in Wiltshire and that he would prefer to play at the highest level possible.

Nicholas who is Town`s longest serving player is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal at the County Ground today.
