Shakes On Trial At Brentford

Former Swindon Town midfielder Ricky Shakes is on trial at League 2 side Brentford.

Shakes who arrived under former boss Andy King from Premiership side Bolton Wanderers had been a fixture in the Swindon Town side after Iffy Onuora took charge of the team.

Shakes showed plenty of pace and promise and played for Trinidad And Tobago`s international side. Dennis Wise also liked Shakes when he arrived at Town and made him a starting midfielder for Town.

Once Wise left for Leeds United Shakes had to prove himself all over again under Paul Sturrock`s management. Shakes remained in the Swindon starting XI until a poor showing at Barnet and was then frozen out of the first team.

At the end of the League 2 season after Town had secured promotion Shakes was told he was surplus to requirements. Despite being told this Shakes said he wanted to stay at Swindon and win his place back in the starting XI at the County Ground however Sturrock told Shakes he would not be part of his plans and to find another club.

Should Shakes do enough to impress the manager at Brentford he will be offered a permanent deal finances permitting. Shakes joins former Swindon Town defender Matt Heywood at Brentford.
