Swindon Town's Community Open Day on July 29 at The County Ground will include a trial game made up entirely of foreign talent, with the fans allowed to watch, and vote for their favourite players, X-Factor style.
Over the summer Paul Sturrock has received a mountain of letters from British agents touting foreign players and is hopeful the trial will unearth the next star.
He said: 'We will have two teams of players from abroad and will give them an opportunity for me to have a look at them in a game. We will be looking at players from all sorts of different countries. We already have a high pile of foreign players CVs being touted by British agents.
You never know what might catch your eye. I have never done anything like this before so it will be a good thing to try.'
Swindon Town have teamed up with www.textappeal.co.uk to give fans the chance to vote for their favourite trialist - the player with the most votes will be invited back to train with the squad, and ultimately be given the chance to prove himself and earn a coveted contract with the club.
'PICK' for man of the match votes (and perhaps for other competitions where there are three possible answers). These competitions/votes will be at 25p.
Of the two teams, one will be designated 'Home' and one 'Away'. Full squad lists will be available on the day. To vote fans will need to text the word PICK, followed by either H for Home or A for Away, followed by the players squad number.
For example if your favourite player is wearing shirt number 9 for the home team, you would text PICK H9 to 60777
For example if your favourite player is wearing shirt number 2 for the away team, you would text PICK A2 to 60777
The vote will run from 1pm to 4pm on the day of the game, and one lucky fan will be chosen at random and will win the a 2007-2008 replica kit, signed by the entire STFC squad.
Texts will be charged at 25p each, plus normal operators rates.
The trial game will kick-off at 1pm on Sunday 29th July with entry free and is part of the club's Community Open Day schedule.
