'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Byrne: We Were Pathetic

Swindon Town caretaker boss David Byrne has told the press that Town's performance against Carlisle was pathetic an apologised to the travelling fans.

'I would like to apologise to the supporters that travelled up because they didn't deserve that sort of performance,' said Byrne.

'We have all had words and the players know they have to perform better than that if they are to stay in the team.

'After a performance like that there is no way they can come and knock on my door if I decide not to play them on Saturday.

'It is going to be a long hard journey home for everyone. We started well but then decided to deviate from the script.

'The way we conceded the first goal was a joke and I am not going to make any excuses because we were pathetic. It was men against boys at times.'
