Maurice Malpas New Swindon Manager?

Strong rumours have emerged tonight that Maurice Malpas will be named the new manager of Swindon Town once the takeover is finally completed.

Malpas is likely a Paul Sturrock connection having played at Dundee United under Sturrock in the past.

Malpas played for over 20 years at Dundee United before moving to Motherwell to become manager.

Chairman-elect Andrew Fitton had said he has spoken to Paul Sturrock and may have suggested Town hire Malpas.

Malpas was a fantasic player and won 55 caps for Scotland and is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame.

Malpas was sacked as Motherwell manage on 1 June 2007.

Malpas was in the Arkells Stand today to watch Swindon Town's 1-1 draw with Barnet at the County Ground which added fuel to the fire that he was about to be named manager.
