3pm Kick Off
Swindon Town welcome League 2 bound Port Vale to the County Ground for their penultimate home game of the 2007-08 season in front of over 8,000 fans.
Port Vale are already relegated but this is not a game we will be taking lightly. These are the games that can catch you out if not approached in the right manner and we will be guarding the players against complacency. We want to go out and get a win, but with a positive display.
Swindon Town Boss Maurice Malpas
'We will have to see who is in League Two, but I don't go into any league to make the numbers up. It is about getting the people who believe the same way as you do. We will be aiming to be successful.'
Port Vale Boss Lee Sinnott On Relegation
Swindon Town are pretty much safe in League One but 3 points will ensure that the probability becomes a reality on Saturday. Ben Joyce will likely get his chance on the bench this Saturday as Maurice Malpas looks to next season. Barry Corr, Blair Sturrock, Patrick Kanyuka and Christian Roberts will miss this game.
The player has been a revelation at the County Ground this season and returns after a 2 game suspension.
Port Vale may already be relegated but lately they have picked things up and put up a valiant effort as they tried to escape the drop. Vale have already started to prepare for life in League 2 by allowing Justin Miller, Mark McGregor, Keith Lowe and Charlie O'Loughlin to leave Port Vale on free transfers.
Port Vale fans will particularly be interested in who Lee Sinnott will bring into the squad to mount a challenge in League 2 next season.
Swindon Town lost the away fixture 2-1 to Port Vale earlier in the season. Lee Peacock scored for Town whilst Lee Rodgers, who was too good for Swindon Town last season and Danny Whitaker netted for the Valiants. Simon Cox missed a golden chance at the end and kicked the ball over the crossbar which would have given Town a share of the points.
With a big crowd on hand you would Hope that Town will be able to beat a team who will be reeling from relegation however Port Vale will be playing for Pride. We say a 2-1 win for Swindon on the 87th minute.
Coca Cola League One: Bristol Rovers V Swindon Town, Tuesday 22 April 2008, 7:45pm kick off at the Memorial Stadium.
