3pm Kick Off
Swindon Town are back in action at the County Ground this Saturday as they take on Colchester United in League One action.
'I think we were excellent in the first two games and for an hour at Cheltenham but we've got to learn the mental side of the game.
'How can we win, and can we win nastily, if that's the right term? We have to work on our concentration but there are no major problems.'
Town boss Maurice Malpas
Swindon Town have been fine at home lately and will hope to continue that trend this Saturday. Town will be boosted by the news that Patrick Kanyuka and Kevin Amankwaah are both available for selection at the back. Town striker Billy Paynter will be able to play after leaving last weeks embarrassment against Cheltenham after being kicked behind the knee. Barry Corr could be set for a spot on the bench after scoring a brace in a reserve match earlier in the week.
The Town captain has been under intense scrutiny from fans and needs to up his game if Town are to stop the flow of sloppy goals going in at the back.
Colchester have got off to a poor start and currently sit in the relegation places although that doesn't really mean anything at this stage of the season. Colchester broke their transfer record by signing Steve Gillespie who was linked with Swindon Town in the Summer from Cheltenham. One player who won`t be playing is Jo Kuffour who has been linked with the club who look as if they will struggle to find goals.
The former MK Dons frontman has just signed a new and improved deal to remain at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Platt alongside of Gillespie are expected to score for fun this season although they have yet to show their potential.
The two teams historically have been pretty even matched. Lifetime Swindon are 26-14-23 against the U`s in all competitions. The last time the 2 teams met was during Town`s pathetic 2005/06 League One relegation campaign when Colchester won 1-0 thanks to a Chris Iwelumo penalty. The penalty was awarded due to former Town player Tony Thorpe doing his best Didier Drogba impression and diving across the Layer Road pitch. The last match at the County Ground ended 1-0 to Swindon when Rory Fallon scored in the 90th minute to give Town a rare 3 points on that afternoon.
Our home form is pretty good and with a decent sized crowd roaring on Maurice Malpas' side we see Town taking all 3 points. That together with Colchester's lack of goals should be enough to see Town get a home win.
