Swindon V Brighton Preview

Swindon Town welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the County Ground for their last match in 2008.

Danny Wilson will take charge of Swindon for the first time since being named manager of the club yesterday.

The Manager Says...:

'I'm delighted that Danny Wilson has accepted the manager's job. I spoke to Danny earlier and he wished us good luck.

'Danny will come in with a few new ideas and objectives and I can only gain from working with him, whether that is for a short or long period of time.'

Assistant Manager David Byrne on Danny Wilson being named as Town Boss

Swindon Town Team News:

Town head into the game on the heels of a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Leyton Orient at the Matchroom Stadium on Boxing Day. Jamie Vincent is out with an injury at the minute and will not feature. Billy Paynter will miss the match as he serves the last game of his three game suspension.

Player to watch: Simon Cox

Cox hasn't been the same player since Maurice Malpas left. Can Danny Wilson revitalise Cox and get him scoring again?

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News:

Brighton have had a rough season so far and currently sit 21st in the League One table and only in the relegation places by goal difference. Brighton will be hoping for a similar result to the one just over a month ago where The Albion beat Swindon 2-1 to knock them out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Brighton suffered a 2-1 defeat on Boxing Day to Colchester and will now be looking to ruin Danny Wilson's first game in charge. There are no new injury worries for Brighton.

Player to watch: Glenn Murray

The former Rochdale striker is on fine form scoring 10 goals in all competitions this season. If playing for a better, no doubt that tally would be higher. Will provide a stern test for Town's dodgy defence.

Match Facts & Stats

The last time the two teams met, Brighton won 2-1 to knock Town out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The last time the two teams met in the League, Brighton won 2-1 thanks to two goals from Nicky Forster. Brighton completed the double over Swindon last season beating Town 3-0 at the County Ground.

Ref Watch:

O Langford will referee the match with assistants P J Grove & M Phillpott. S C Knapp will be fourth official, lets hope he doesn't have a Knapp during the match!

Match Prediction:

A new manager normally brings a wave of optimism to a club so we are going to say a 3-1 Town win, With Brighton struggling and Town showing improvement on Boxing Day, why not?
