County Ground, Swindon
Saturday 12 August 2006
3 pm Kick Off
Swindon Town look to extend their undefeated streak to three games when Rochdale visit the County Ground on Saturday.
'We cannot get carried away, we have six points and have made a good start to the season but we have to be strong and stand our ground.'
Swindon Town Manager Dennis Wise on Swindon's 2-0-0 start.
Swindon Town will be without Andy Gurney and Gareth Whalley. Paul Evans could get a start in midfield at the expense of Michael Pook. Swindon will be looking to go 3-0-0 to build confidence before going to a difficult away fixture at Darlington the following Saturday.
Roberts had a blinder against Barnet however many fans are waiting to see if his fine form continues. 'Dennis' Son' as known to the other Swindon players will be looking to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season.
Manager Steve Parkin has admitted that his team simply have not been good enough and need to start scoring goals if they are to have any chance of a promotion push this season. Rochadale have not been short of chances however their finishing touch appears to be a problem. Rochdale's strikers will have a tough time with Swindon's defenders should they be able to play at the their best.
Joint top goal scorer in League Two last season was rumoured to be joining Swindon Town in a 150,000 deal, however this rumour was later denied by Chief Executive Mark Devlin.
Swindon Town have never lost to Rochdale in any competition. Swindon are a lifetime 8-3-0 against Rochdale.
R LEE will be referee with D Ford and W Barratt as his assistants. K Pike will be the fourth official for this fixture.
Swindon don't appear to be making things easy for themselves. Hopefully a nice 3-1 win will take them to a difficult game at Darlington.
