Swindon Town vs. Bayern Munich II

Robins face Bayern II

Paolo's men take on Bayern Munich's Under 23 side in Town's second pre-season friendly of their Italian tour.

Vital Quotes:

Swindon will be looking to make it two wins out of two today, after last weeks 9-1 drubbing of the Verona Select XI, which consisted of a group of local conference side players. However, the German side, led by Mehmet Scholl and Gerd Muller, two notable names in world football, will prove a stern test for the Wiltshire club, who are still gelling as a uniform in preparation the new season.

Swindon Town Team News:

Paolo is likely to switch his side around from their victory last week, with the difficult decision of choosing which two centre-back's he would like to start. Troy Archibald-Henville, Aden Flint and Alan McCormack are all vying for places in the first XI, with the latter two likely to be given the nod. Gary Roberts and Paul Caddis have both recovered from knocks to be declared fit for today, whereas trialist Paul Mooney is out of the game after picking up an injury against the Verona XI. Simon Ferry and Alan Navarro are likely to partner each other in the centre of midfield, while James Collins is likely to line up alongside Andy Williams, with Paul Benson seemingly made to settle for a place on the bench. Finally despite his hat-trick last week, Luke Rooney's involvement may be restricted once again to a substitute role.

Player to watch: JAMES COLLINS

Collins' first half performance was enlightening, with his pace and finishing skills pleasing Di Canio, and lets hope he can repeat the feat again against a more testing opposition.

Bayern Munich II Team News:

With the German side containing very few noteworthy names that will prove familiar to Town fans, one player, who will be pitting his wits against the Reds once again is former Tranmere forward Dale Jennings, who moved to Munich 12 months ago. Midfielder Altin Lala, one of the three over 23 year old players permitted in the squad, has 79 International Caps for Albania, while 30 year-old striker Tobias Schweinsteiger, is the older brother of midfield stalwart Bastian.

Player to watch: DALE JENNINGS

It is obvious that Jennings will be the centre of attention in the Munich side, not only because he is English, but it will be very interesting to see how far he has grown under the guidance of the European giants.

Match Facts & Stats

Surprise surprise these two sides have never met before, but this tie is likely to be a very competitive one.

Next Fixtures:

Swindon's next fixture will be on the 24th of July, when they make the slightly closer trip to Blue Square Premier side Forest Green.
