Saturday 18 November 2006
3pm Kick Off
Swindon Town travel to devon to play Torquay United at Plainmoor this Saturday backed by 1,000 plus fans.
'There is a danger this weekend that's for sure. We don't want it to be a case of after the lord mayors show because people were all impressed with last weekend's performance. We cannot just turn up at Torquay and expect it to happen.'
Swindon Town Manager Paul Sturrock
Torquay United currently sit 19th in the League Two table and have 2 Swindon Town connections at the club. Matt Hewlett who was involved at Swindon Town during the playoff season three years ago left Swindon for Torquay at the end of the 2004-05 season. Hewlett is currently out with a back injury and will not feature. Chris McPhee who was with Town under manager Iffy Onuora last season is currently at Torquay and scored the winning goal against Leatherhead in the FA Cup last weekend.
Offered a contract under former manager Iffy Onuora at Swindon at the close of last season, McPhee will be out to prove to Swindon Town they should have signed him for this season.
Lee Peacock should be back for Town after being out with a virus over the last week. Andy Gurney is still unavailable due to an ankle injury. Jamie Vincent has a hamstring strain and could miss out. Andy Caton could make a return to the first team. Aaron Brown is out with a hamstring injury. Andy Monkhouse could be on the bench. Phil Smith will start in goal as Andy Lonergan is recovering from blurred vision.
Roberts scored 2 goals for Swindon Town last Saturday and will be looking to score more Saturday to help lift Town back into the promotion places.
The last time these 2 teams played, Swindon Town and Torquay United drew 2-2 at Plainmoor with goals from 'Super' Sammy Parkin from Swindon Town and goals from Leon Constantine and Jo Kuffour, a former Swindon Town loanee for Torquay United.
Given Swindon Town's current league position and compared to Torquay United's we should win by atleast 2 or 3 goals. We will predict 3-1 Swindon Town.
