Moss Rose, Macclesfield
Saturday 23 December 2006
3pm Kick Off
Swindon Town travel to lowly Macclesfield Town to play Paul Ince's side in Town's last match before Christmas.
'Sometimes away from home, we have played good football because teams playing at home have been more likely to attack us.
'I think that could work in our favour at Macclesfield. They are confident and in good form and so they will be coming at us looking for the points.
'Hopefully we can defend well and take the opportunity to hit them on the break and show we are a dangerous attacking side.'
- Swindon Town defender Jerel Ifil
Macclesfield currently sit dead last in League 2 but under former Town player Paul Ince, Macclesfield have seen a bit of a resurgence lately. Macclesfield will be without defender Alan Navarro, who serves the third match of a three-match suspension. Matthew Tipton who is suffering from a calf injury and Martin Bullock who is suffering from a knee injury will face a late fitness test. Tommy Lee will be in goal for Macclesfield. Paul Ince will not play due to Swindon Town holding his registration under the January transfer window opens. Former Swindon loanee Colin Heath will feature for Macclesfield.
Heath scored one goal whilst on loan at Swindon Town last year from Manchester United and will be looking to show the Swindon brass what they were missing by not playing him.
Swindon Town sit 2nd in League 2 by one point over MK Dons and 2 points over Lincoln City. Royce Brownlie could return the squad after suffering a knee injury in Town's 2-0 loss at Mansfield 2 weeks ago. Top goal scorer Christian Roberts picked up his 5th yellow card of the campaign and will miss the trip up north to Macclesfield.
The 17 year old striker is just finding his niche now after showing so much promise at the reserve and youth levels. Lukas will be looking to make it 3 goals in 3 games with the abscence of strike partner Christian Roberts.
Macclesfield Town and Swindon Town have never played each other in any competition. Jon Beswetherick, Mark Gardiner, Colin Heath and Kyle Lightbourne have featured for both clubs however.
Macclefield 2 - Swindon Town 3, Goals from Jutkiewicz and Brown for Swindon.
Coca Cola League 2: Swindon Town V Wycombe Wanderers, 26 December 2006, 3pm kick off.
