County Ground, Swindon
Saturday 30 December 2006
3pm Kick Off
Swindon Town host Notts County at the County Ground in Town's final League 2 fixture of 2006.
'We simplified their jobs at corners for the Wycombe match, it seemed to benefit us and we're going to stick to that.
'It'd be nice to score off a corner at the other end though. It would be a big bonus as we`ve not scored off one yet.'
- Swindon Town Manager Paul Sturrock
'In Roberts and Peacock they have two excellent strikers, and we will have to be on top of our game to beat them.'
- Notts County Manager Steve Thompson
Swindon Town will be without Curtis Weston and Paul Evans who picked up injuries after colliding into each other at Macclesfield last weekend. Gareth Whalley could be available to take Evans place. Andy Caton and Ashan Holgate are out Indefinitely.
The 17 year old striker has scored 3 goals in 4 games and could finally be the natural goal scorer the club needs.
Notts County currently sit 8th in the League 2 table and will be out to put a dent in Swindon's fine home form. Notts County could welcome back striker Lawrie Dudfield to the starting lineup after over coming an illness. Stephen Hunt who has been out for 2 months could make his long awaited return from an ankle injury.
The striker has scored 6 goals this term however he has picked up 10 yellow cards already this season. Lee has spent time at Peterborough, Watford, Nottingham Forest, Boston United and Chesterfield before joining County.
Lifetime Swindon Town are 21-9-17 against County in league matches. Swindon's biggest ever victory came in March 2003 at home when Andy Gurney and David Duke scored for Town. Sam Parkin also had a hat trick for Town during this game. Town drew 1-1 with County back in September with Fola Onibuje netting for The Robins.
Swindon has great home form. Town have to win this match with a tough fixture against follow promotion rivals MK Dons on New Years Day. I am hopeful Town to rise to the challenge and beat Notts County 2-0, with goals from Jutkiewicz and Brown.
