Swindon Town vs. Mansfield Town

County Ground, Swindon

Saturday 21 April 2007

3pm Kick Off

UP NEXT: Mansfield Town

Swindon Town will look to beat Mansfield and gain promotion back to League One against Mansfield Town infront of over 10,000 fans. Swindon will also be hoping that Stockport County ensure that MK Dons do not win. Should Swindon better MK Dons result then they will get promoted back to League One.

Vital Quotes:

'There will be a carnival atmosphere down there but they shouldn't bank on celebrating promotion yet as we have done well against the top sides this season.'

Mansfield Town Captain Jake Buxton

'I think Swindon needs this (promotion) now. We`ve had 10 years where it`s been topsy-turvy and on the decline. We just need that wee lift, that wee perk up, get ourselves up into the next league, consolidate and hopefully push on.'

Swindon Town Manager Paul Sturrock

Swindon Town Team News:

Town will be without Ady Williams, Peter Brezovan and Paul Evans thanks to injuries. Jack Smith serves the second game of his 2 game suspension. Barry Corr and Lee Peacock may face late fitness tests but are likely to feature. Lukas Jutkiewicz could be on the way back into the starting XI after scoring 2 goals in 2 games coming off the bench.

Player to watch: Lukas Jutkiewicz

Lukas Jutkiewicz, The 18 year old striker who will move to Everton at the end of the season is desperate to get promotion with Swindon Town before his Summer switch.

Mansfield Town Team News:

Mansfield currently sit 18th in the League 2 table and will be playing for Pride. Giles Coke, Jake Buxton, Jon D'Laryea, Asa Charlton, Simon Brown were already out for this match, they were joined this week by Dawson (groin), Hamshaw (knee), Jelleyman (Achille's tendon) and Mullins (knee). Mansfield will have a side full of youth however Town fans should not think this will be an easy match.

Player to watch: The Manager

The Manager, Pretty much the whole team is crocked and the manager will have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to ensure his team do well and halt the party at the County Ground.

Match Facts & Stats

Swindon Town lost 2-0 to Mansfield earlier in the season at Field Mill. Town are a combined 18-13-10 lifetime against The Stags.

Match Prediction:

With injuries to Mansfield and a huge near sell out crowd at the County Ground Town should win this easily, but this is Swindon Town so things are never as they seem. I still feel we will win though 2-0 and hopefully Stockport can beat or draw with MK Dons to ensure the Promotion party goes well into the night.
