Swindon Town vs. Walsall

County Ground, Swindon

Saturday 5 May 2007

3 pm Kick Off

UP NEXT: Walsall

Well it all comes down to one game for both teams. After already securing automatic promotion, Should Walsall win the Saddlers could win the League 2 championship.

Should Swindon Town better MK Dons result they will guarantee League One football next season and win promotion.

With so much riding on the game for both sides the game has completely sold out. This will mark the third time this season the County Ground has sold over 10,000 tickets. Town who have the highest home attendances in League 2 this season will be hoping the fantastic support is repaid by winning promotion at 5 pm on Saturday.

Vital Quotes:

'I think we`ll take the 4-3 route rather than the 1-0.

'We have got to go and have a go and we`ll have a go on Saturday.

'We'll be open but how would you like us to shut up shop, play 4-5-1 sit on a 0-0 and lose a goal in the last minute?

'I don't feel there`s any way that fans should get to see that apprehension in our game.

'Let`s be the Cavaliers for a change instead of the Roundheads.'

Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock

'Swindon will come and attack us, Paul Sturrock has been in bullish and aggressive mood this week and I agree with him. You can be sure that we will be going there in a positive frame of mind looking to take the Title.

'The whole outcome is in our own hands, which is a great position to be in. We have been in the top two since September and that is a tremendous achievement. The players deserve all the credit they get and now we have the chance to finish the job off, whilst safe in the knowledge that whatever happens we will be playing League One football next season.'

Walsall manager Richard Money

Swindon Town Team News:

Michael Pook, Ashley Westwood, Christian Roberts and Lee Peacock will be given every chance to take part after suffering injuries in the week. Barry Corr may return to the fold after missing the Bristol Rovers game due to a back injury. Corr has scored 3 goals in 7 games and is keen to earn a contract for next season.

Player to watch: Jerel Ifil

Ifil was immense at Bristol Rovers and was the only player apart from Phil Smith who looked interested. Ifil will have to lead from the back and shut down the Walsall attack.

Walsall Team News:

Former Swindon Town loanee Trevor Benjamin could get the nod to start against his former mates. Benjamin scored the decisive goal against Notts County that will ensure that the Saddlers play League One football next season. Walsall will have well over 3,000 fans cheering them on to what they hope will be a League 2 championship.

Player to watch: Clayton Ince

Clayton Ince has been one of the top goalkeepers in League 2 this season and was named into the League 2 team of the year and has 21 clean sheets to his name this term. Town will have to find a way of solving Ince if they are to make their dreams of promotion become a reality.

Match Facts & Stats

Swindon Town beat Walsall 2-0 at Bescot Stadium earlier in the season with goals from Christian Roberts and Lukas Jutkiewicz. Town have a lifetime 51% success rate against the Saddlers. Town are 29-20-28 against the Saddlers in all competitions.

Ref Watch:

M J Jones is the referee for this fixture. Jones will have S W Tincknell and S D Cook as his assistants. The Fourth Official will be G R Russell.

Match Prediction:

As much as I hate to say it, I predict a 1-2 win for Walsall and MK Dons to beat Accrington 3-2 at the National Hockey Stadium. This situation would result in Swindon still winning promotion back to League One with a goal difference of one. Town will come out firing on all cylinders but I would happily be proven wrong.

Its going to be bit nervy and frantic towards the end of 90 mins I think. Wonder if it'll match the playoff final against Leicester City at Wembley 4-3 up - with 10 mins to go.....
