County Ground, Swindon
Tuesday 31 July 2007
7:45pm Kick Off
Newly promoted Swindon Town play their first pre-season friendly at the County Ground against newly promoted local rivals Bristol City Tuesday night.
Both clubs enjoyed parties at the end of last season with both clubs getting promotion at home in front of sell out crowds. Bristol City are now plying their trade in the Championship whilst Swindon Town are back in League One and looking to go one better this time around.
"We created a lot of chances in the second half but we didn't take them.
"We have put a lot more pressure on ourselves in a striking area because when you don't score goals the pressure grows"
- Paul Sturrock on Swindon's lack of goals

Swindon Town have no new injury concerns to deal with. Barry Corr will miss the match due to a back problem. He will be available towards the end of September. Captain Ady Williams will not feature as he recovers from a operation in the Summer. Lee Peacock was having problems with his hamstring but is expected to feature.
Swindon Town were desperately low on goals last season and with Barry Corr out for the first month and Lukas Jutkiewicz playing his football at Premier League side Everton, Town will be looking for the next 'Big Thing'

Bristol City drew 2-2 with Yeovil Town on Saturday. New signing Lee Trundle is likely to start for City whilst Scott Murray who has always been at the receiving end of taunts from the County Ground faithful is likely to start.
Bristol City's new striker Lee Trundle will play in his second game for City after scoring for Yeovil in his debut for Bristol City. Trundle got a battering from Swindon fans after spending most of his time showing off to the Town End during his last visit to SN1 when he was with Swansea City.
The last time these 2 teams met was 2 seasons ago when the teams drew 1-1 at Ashton Gate. Town would end up being relegated to League Two at the end of this match.
The result doesn't matter however a win over your local rivals is always good and considering the opposition is in the division above a win would be an added bonus.
