Barnet vs. Swindon Town

Underhill Stadium

Tuesday 22 January 2008

7:45pm K.O

FA CUP PREVIEW: Barnet

After being called off once, Swindon Town travel to a wet and soggy Underhill Stadium to play Barnet in the FA Cup 3rd round replay.

The reward for winning for Town is either a local derby with bristol Rovers which the players tempers flared at the County Ground earlier this season or a visit from forgotten Premier League side Fulham.

Vital Quotes:

'The FA Cup has already been spoken about, straight after the game. That is the most important game now. We will enjoy the victory today and we are back in tomorrow morning and the Barnet game the most important.

'I think at the start of the week if someone had told me we were going to beat Forest as convincingly as we did do and played in the manner we did I would probably have put them in a strait jacket.'

Swindon Town Boss Maurice Malpas

Barnet Team News:

Barnet pulled off a shock 1-0 victory over League 2 leaders MK Dons the last time they played and will fancy their chances against Swindon. Barnet will welcome midfielder Michael Leary back to action after missing Saturday's clash against MK Dons. Albert Adomah from Harrow Borough who signed earlier in the week could make his league debut for The Bees.

Player to watch: Adam Birchall

Birchall was the hero for Barnet in the original fixture at the County Ground scoring 5 minutes before full time to ensure the game had to be replayed at Underhill. Birchall has scored 7 times this season for The Bees in all competitions.

Swindon Town Team News:

Barry Corr will make his return from a suspension. Goalkeeper Phil Smith could make his return after being out after a hernia operation. Ady Williams is still out. Billy Paynter is likely to pair up with Blair Sturrock in attack.

Player to watch: Billy Paynter

Paynter has looked to be lacking confidence lately after finding himself on the bench whilst Simon Cox and Barry Corr lead from the front. Once Paynter scores we think he will continue to find the back of the net.

Match Facts & Stats

Prior to this season, Swindon Town and Barnet have only met twice and that was last season in League 2. Both games resulted in the home team winning.

Match Prediction:

Swindon Town always fail to win the big games in previous times so we will say a 2-1 win to Barnet sadly.

Next Fixtures:

To Be Announced, Should Swindon Town win they will play Bristol Rovers or Fulham at the County Ground on Saturday in the 4th round of the FA Cup, Should they lose they will travel to Crewe this Saturday for a League One Fixture.
