A Simon Cox hat trick see's Swindon Town earn a share of the points against Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park this afternoon.
Swindon got off to a dream start as Simon Cox fired a shot past Scunthorpe Keeper Joe Murphy to give the visitors a unexpected 1-0 lead on 15 minutes.
Free kick's would become Swindon's downfall again after Scunthorpe's Grant McCann scored on a free-kick 12 minutes later to put the home side level.
The teams would go into half time level at 1-1 in a entertaining first half.
Swindon Town Goalkeeper Phil Smith who had been out of action after a calamity of errors in previous matches, kept Swindon in the game with a string of saves before Martyn Woolford fired Scunthorpe ahead on 50 minutes giving the league leaders a 2-1 lead.
Town would respond right away after Simon Cox chipped Iron keeper Murphy to bring things level at 2-2.
Krystian Pearce would then restore Scunthorpe's one goal lead after scoring a header which made it 3-2.
Joe Murphy would be involved in some controversy shortly there after after exchanging words with Swindon Town fans. The police and stewards quickly got involved and the situation got a bit out of hand with some Swindon fans being ejected. Murphy has since been reported to The FA.
Some would see it as poetic justice as Town were given a penalty on the 80th minute. Simon Cox would happily step up and slam the ball home to make it 3-3 in an incredible game at Glanford Park.
The goal marked Cox's second hat trick in a month which sadly will have teams keeping their eye on the striker come January.
Maurice Malpas would bring on Barry Corr to see if Town could steal all 3 points but it wasn't to be and Town leave North Lincolnshire with a well deserved point to keep their unbeaten run going.
Apart from the problems with the police and stewarding it was a very entertaining afternoon at Scunthorpe.
