Ricky Shakes Gives Swindon an early 1-0 lead but Swindon couldn't hold on and ended up losing 2-1, pretty much ending any chance of League One football next season.
Swindon did not play like a team who were bottom of the league. For the first time in 4 weeks the team actually put the effort in and mananged to put on a promising display of determination and grit.
Swansea had the majority of the chances during the first half of the match with many balls being crossed to Andy Robinson, who would eventually get a goal later in the game for the Swans.
During the first half of the game Swindon had difficulty getting the ball out of their end and almost went down 1-0 very early, if it wasn't for Swansea putting the ball wide.
The game went back and forward until Swansea got an advantage after Lee Peacock was forced off just before half time with his knee injury getting the best of him. Peacock had been playing with an injured knee because he wanted to get Swindon out of the relegation zone. Sadly Peacock could now be done for the season.
When Peacock went down many expected Jamie Cureton to come on but Manager Iffy Onuora gave a shot to Lucas Jutkiewicz the 17 year old striker who is touted as "one for the future" and Lucas did not look out of place in the first team.
The game continued back and forward to the half way mark with the Swindon fans cheering their team off
The second half began and on the 62nd minute a mighty roar erupted when Ricky Shakes scored for Swindon. The 500 or so Wiltshire fans screamed in jubilation, chanting "staying up" and "Swindon Til I die". Swindon Town 1, Swansea City 0.
With the Wiltshire crowd on a high Town had a great oppourtunity to go 2-0 up but the referee missed an obvious hand ball by Swansea's Sam Ricketts which should have awarded a penalty.
11 Minutes after Shakes' goal, former Town player Rory Fallon set up Robinson, who did not miss with his fifth clear chance making it 1 all and silencing the Swindon fans.
Swansea soon followed up with their second goal courtesy of Adrian Forbes who got the end of a cross from Lee Trundle. Town fought on but went home from the Liberty Stadium empty handed and remain 3 points from safety.
This weekend could potentially secure Swindon's future to League Two should they fail to pick anything up this weekend at home to MK Dons or away to Scunthorpe on Easter Monday.
