Swindon Finally Relegated

Swindon Town were finally relegated after a spirited effort against Bristol City this afternoon at Ashton Gate

The fans went crazy and sang their hearts out the whole game, getting behind the club who they loved dearly.

Town controlled a good part of the game and took the lead on the 49th minute which sent the Swindon fans into a frenzy. Chants of "We are Staying up" rang throughout the away end.

Could it happen? Could Swindon Town really avoid relegation to League Two? The fans believed. With scores of other games going Swindon's way it seemed as if it might come down to the last game of the season at home to Huddersfield.

The dream died 19 minutes later when Dave Cotterill who had been quiet the whole match, scored a screamer past Town keeper Rhys Evans to make the score 1-1.

The Town fans continued to sing and rally the team on, then it seemed as if Town had taken the lead with a Jamie Cureton goal but, Cureton some how managed to lob the ball over the open goal.

Full time came but there was one last hope for Swindon when the official ruled there would be five minutes added time.

Town controlled most of added time but failed to score 2 or 3 good chances and then the final whistle went. The fans cried "Swindon Til I die" with tears rolling down their faces. Yes Swindon Town become the first team to go from the Premiership to the bottom division in English football. Swindon Town are relegated to League Two.

Star Player

Rhys Evans - Made many great saves and kept the score at one all. It seems likely now that Swindon Town are relegated. Rhys Evans will end up leaving Swindon now.

Iffy Comments On Relegation

"We have to let it sink in over the weekend then questions will be asked of what we have done, and how we can improve."

Next Game:

At the County Ground, Swindon, 6 May vs Huddersfield 3PM, The clubs final league game in League One.
