Swindon Draw Opener 0-0

Swindon Town open their 2012/13 League One campaign with a 0-0 draw at Hartlepool United.

Town boss Paolo Di Canio fielded the same team that beat Brighton 3-0 earlier on in the week.

The main talking point of the match was the fact Tommy Miller missed 71st minute penalty which seemed to galvanise the Town who up until that point seemed to be chasing shadows.

Following the penalty it was all one way traffic for Swindon Town who came close to scoring following the debut of James Collins, as the fitnes levels for the Town showed.

Most fans would have taken a 0-0 draw or a point heading into the match so lets kick on from here Tuesday night against Crawley Town.

Follwing the match many fans had suggested on BBC Wiltshire that Paul Caddis and Town boss Paolo Di Canio have to settle their differences for the good of the club.

Star Player

Wes Foderingham - Apart from one ball that missed reflected off the post back to Foderingham, Wes was once again a rock in goal for Town.

Manager Rating

Many slated Paolo Di Canio for not playing the same team two games in a row so all credit to Paolo here. Apart from the penalty, Town looked to be lacking a goal scorer up front, but its only day one so its a point gained.

Next Match

Town take on Crawley Town in League One action on Tuesday night at the County Ground with kick off at 7:45pm.

Johnstones Paint Trophy

Swindon Town drew Oxford United away in the first round of the Johnstones's Paint Trophy. The match will take place during the week commencing 3rd September.
