Swindon Beat Brave Pompey 2-1

Swindon Town claimed their first away win of the League One campaign by beating a pieced together Portsmouth side 2-1 at Fratton Park.

It was easy to see Pompey are a team in turmoil and that they did not expect the massive Swindon Town following that went to Fratton Park. Prior to the match there was no hot dogs or burgers available to eat or programmes for fans to buy. Police had to open more seats for Town fans after the 3 sections opened became over croweded.

Former Portsmouth winger Matt Ritchie scored the opening goal for Town on the Half Time whistle.

Town would enjoy the majority of the possession simply outclassing Pompey.

Town striker Andy Williams finally got he first league goal for Town on the 65th minute which sent the Town fans into raptures.

Town would enjoy long periods of possession but seemingly fell apart in the last ten minutes.

The referee indicated there would be a minimum of four minutes stoppage time.

With Pompey controlling the last ten minutes and hitting the post several times, Lubomir Michalik would score for Pompey in extra time making it 2-1 to Swindon.

Town would luckily hold on for the win.

Star Player

Wes Foderingham - made some world class saves to ensure Town returned to Wiltshire with all three points.
