Swindon Beat Rubbish Crewe 2-0

Swindon Town

Attendance: 6,530 (133 Crewe Fans)

Referee:

Swindon Town claimed all 3 points in a game that was more like a pre-season friendly after beating an incredibly poor Crewe side 2-0 at the County Ground.

Swindon Town dominated the game in a flat atmosphere at the County Ground. It really appeared to be a case of men against boys as The Railwaymen failed to get out of first gear for the entire match.

Yaser Kasim would score a cracking free kick after missing one minutes earlier to give Town a well deserved 1-0 lead heading into half time.

Michael Smith almost doubled the lead for Town after hitting the cross bar.

Andy Williams scored a second for Town after slotting home the second for Town, ending a dry spell of goals at the County Ground which will surely give him more confidence going forward.

Credit must go to Alex keeper Ben Garratt who had a busy afternoon due to the one way traffic.

At the other end of the pitch Crewe never had a shot on target until the 81st minute when Chris Atkinson challenged Wes Foderingham.

Town would get the 3 points in an easy win which in real terms should have been a bigger margin.

This game shouldn't go as any indication how the season will pan out. Crewe look completely clueless and based on the performance against Town, need to buck up their ideas first otherwise they will struggle to stay up this season. Yes a bold statement this early in the season but applicable.

Star Player

Yaser Kasim - Did his international chances no harm for Iraq. Scored a great free kick and completely bossed midfield.
