Swindon Town 1 - Notts County 1

County Ground, Swindon

Saturday 30 December 2006

Attendance: 6,805

Swindon 1, Notts County 1

A late goal from Michael Timlin ensures that Swindon Town draw 1 all with Notts County this afternoon at the County Ground.

The game played in windy, raining conditions was never going to be pretty as stated by Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock in his after game interview.

"The wind is a real key factor in this stadium and it's something we will have to work on before games. We couldn't get any rhythm but we have to give NC a lot of credit. Perhaps we were fortunate to go into the break just one goal down" Sturrock said.

Notts County took the lead on the 35th minute with a goal from Lawrie Dudfield who managed to get on the end of a Jay Smith free kick., Dudfield was playing his first game since returning from an illness.

On loan midfielder Michael Timlin scored a goal from 25 yards to secure a point for Swindon.

With results going in favour of Lincoln and MK Dons, Swindon now find themselves 3 points off automatic promotion with a massive game at MK Dons on New Years Day.

Star Player

Michael Timlin - Took his goal well and won man of the match after the game today. It will be great if Town can extend his loan spell at the club.

What's happened to Swindon? They came out at the start of the season flying but seem to have lost their way recently? Is Wise missed that much? Is your team up to the challenge they face on Monday?

I imagine you'll see this as dropped points today.

Its a bit up and down at the moment beating Walsall away one week, then losing to Macclesfield soon after. Wisey isn't missed, as I don't think it would be much different. I think we have done well to maintain this position, with all the background of manager moves, board infighting and players injured. I'd prefer stay in the playoff zone then hit form at the final run in, and not peak now. 'Up to the challenge' - thats rather arrogant - your teams on form but I wouldn't get too carried away with it if I was you...it could all end in tears ....the harder they come the harder they fall.

I think a draw was a fair result today. The weather didn't help.

first half swindon were certainly not at their best but 2nd half came out a different team, Notts county though are a good battling side and a draw was fair i suppose, at least we did not loose the match
