Swindon Town 4 - AFC Bournemouth 1

County Ground, Swindon

Saturday 22 September 2007

Attendance: 6,668

Swindon 4, Bournemouth 1

Swindon Town currently sit in 7th place just outside of the League One playoffs after a 4-1 thrashing of a poor Bournemouth side this afternoon at the County Ground.

Simon Cox scored his first goal for Swindon whilst Bily Paynter scored a hat trick in the second half to secure all 3 points at the County Ground.

Star Player

Billy Paynter - Who else? Still probably not fully match fit but a hat trick in his first start at home, finally a replacement for Sam Parkin?

Player Ratings

Phil Smith - 7

Another good performance, had a pretty quiet afternoon, couldn't do anything about the goal.

Miguel Comminges - 6

Looked pretty poor in the first half but improved after Town scored his second goal.

Jamie Vincent - 6

Wasn't great, was captain but didn't seem vocal enough. Probably his worst performance of the season but the job at hand was finished.

Jerel Ifil - 7

A rock at the heart of the defence there looked as if he was trying to lead Chris Blackburn who was making his first league start. Again cleared the ball when he had to.

Chris Blackburn - 6

Made his first league start. He looked ok in patches but you couldn't help but feel a bit nervous when he was going for the ball. A good effort and overtime will improve.

Jon-Paul McGovern - 7

Did well and got the ball forward. Could not be faulted on any part of his game.

Lee Peacock - 6

Not the best Peacock performance but this may have been down to how poor Bournemouth were. Ran his socks off though.

Craig Easton - 7

Did very well and is starting to show the form that had Leyton Orient fans raving about him.

Sofiene Zaaboub - 6

Frustrating is the word to use. He looked incredibly poor for the most part but did put in some decent crosses. Hasn't really been the same player since signing his contract last season.

Billy Paynter - 9

Not match fit but ran his socks off and scored a hat trick. First goal may have been helped by a goalkeeping error but could he be the replacedment for Sam Parkin?

Simon Cox - 8

Arrogant and demanded to be in the starting XI. Looked poor on his first outing but he has come along leaps and bounds and was fantastic scoring a goal and setting up one of Paynters. His Backflip and catwheel celebration was fantastic!

Christian Roberts - 7

Came on late but did a lot. Ran at the Bournemouth defence and almost scored late into the game.

There's only one Super Sammy - but lets hope Billy P. runs a close second to him. Good start for Billy and certainly makes me feel a bit more confident about our getting goals - and Mr Corr is still to come back aswell.
