Swindon Town 1 - Swansea City 1

County Ground, Swindon

Attendance: 9,426

Swindon Simply Fantastic!!

Swindon Town gain an excellent point this afternoon at the County Ground thanks to a late penalty from Simon Cox on the 97th minute.

Swindon Town showed the passion and desire to ensure they did not leave the game empty handed today.

Town spent most of the game defending. It looked as if Town would be in for a long afternoon after Barry Corr was sent off after 20 minutes for stamping on Garry Monk.

David Byrne made a tactical substitution replace the departed Barry Corr.

Sofiene Zaaboub was taken off and replaced by Billy Paynter. Zaaboub was not happy and stormed off the pitch in a strop.

The teams would go into half time at 0-0 which was a good result for a team with 10 men.

Town came out the second half with fire in their eyes and were determined to stop the league leaders from taking the advantage.

Town brought Michael Pook on to start the second half after Craig Easton suffered a head injury at the end of the first half.

Town managed to hold Swansea to a 0-0 scoreline after Peter Brezovan made an incredible save on the 76th minute. 0-0 looked to be the end result before Thomas Butler put the visitors ahead with a goal on the 87th minute breaking the Swindon Town fans hearts. The Town players were exhausted on the ground absolutely gutted.

Agony would soon turn to ecstacy as the Town fans rallied behind the team the loudest they had all season.

Town would go close and have 2 chances cleared off the line before Kris O'Leary conceeded a penalty for Swindon.

You could almost sense what would happen. Simon Cox who was playing his last game for Swindon... for now stepped up and slotted home for the home team making it 1-1.

Town would hold on to the draw and would receive a round of applause for their spirited effort this afternoon.

Simon Cox who will return to Reading had a lap of honour as a fan threw a Swindon scarf on the pitch, Cox picked it up and wiped tears from his face.

What a great end to a brilliant loan spell for Coxy.

Star Player

Peter Brezovan - Absolutely fantastic today, Back at his best. We must hang on to Brezovan at any cost.
