Jake Jervis' 'Time At Town'

Jake Jervis' 'Time At Town'
Jake Jervis enjoyed a three-month loan spell at Swindon from Championship side Birmingham City last season, when he joined on September 29th, departing the club on December 30th. The 6ft 3in forward bagged 5 goals in his 14 appearances for the Robins, with a brace on his full debut away at then-League 1 side Exeter City, when the Reds left St James' Park victorious after a 2-1 victory thanks to a brace by Wolverhampton-born Jervis.

Jervis always provided a threat up front, with his link up play and movement impressing Paolo Di Canio, and he proved to be one of the more impressive loan signings during the first year of Paolo's tenure.

And Jake was happy to talk to Vital Swindon about his time with the club, and here is what he had to say!

NDL95: So Jake, when did you first find out Swindon were interested in you and what had you heard about the club before joining?

JJ: Erm, it was literally a last minute thing, it was only a couple of days before I actually signed, my agent rang me and said 'Look, Swindon are interested in you`, so I went down there, and obviously at the time it was all about the gaffer, and at the time there was a lot going on, but it was good to go there.

NDL95: So you`ve lived in a fair few towns and cities because of your footballing career, how was it living in Swindon?

JJ: Yeah I enjoyed it, especially as there was a couple of lads that I knew before I went there, like Wes (Foderingham) and Ahmed (Abdullah) and Cristian (Montano) when they were there, so it was decent, and really nice to be able to live near to them and be able to be close to them.

NDL95: So what did you think of the fans support in both home and away games?

JJ: I can remember the Plymouth away game last season when we scored in the last few minutes, and the atmosphere was amazing, and it was great that the fans travelled all that way, so I`d like to say that the fans were really good that game and they always were.

NDL95: Good stuff, so have you made any new life-long friends from your time at Swindon? Is there anyone in particular you still regularly talk too?

JJ: Yeah I speak to most of them still if I`m honest, out of all of them I probably speak to Wes (Foderingham) the most, I speak to him quite regularly.

NDL95: Nice to put a couple of goals passed him today?

JJ: (laughs) Yeah but I didn`t say anything to him after the match because I know what he`s like, obviously he`s disappointed, but it was nice to play against him.

NDL95: What was your most memorable moment from your time at Town?

JJ: Ermů probably the first game I started (Exeter away in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy), because I hadn`t played for three months, and going in to the team and scoring two goals on my full debut was a great achievement, and I was a bit gutted I didn`t get more but I was happy to just get the two, and also get the win.

NDL95: Yes an important win that kick started our long journey to Wembley! So Jake would you say that you were happy with what you achieved from your time at Swindon?

JJ: Yeah definitely, I got goals, I helped out the team, and obviously the lads got promoted that season so I`d like to think that I was a part of that, and overall it was a good experience.

NDL95: Of course! Finally, do you think the future of Swindon Town Football Club looks bright?

JJ: Yes definitely. The club has got good backing from the Chairman, a great manager, and with the players they have, and like today for example, I think the game was quite an open one, but they are a strong team going forward, and we did well not to concede any more.

NDL95: Cheers thanks for your time Jake!

JJ: Cheers, all the best!
