OPPOSITION VIEW: Doncaster Rovers

OPPOSITION VIEW: Doncaster Rovers
Thanks to Daz King at Donny for taking part in this Q&A. Be sure to stop by for their view of our match by Clicking Here.

1. What are Doncaster`s expectations this season?
Despite only coming down from the championship last season it was seen as a season of consolidation with Dean Saunders rebuilding his squad on a hugely decreased player budget.

2. Is Dean Saunders the right man for the job at Donny?
His appointment last season split many fans. Many were disappointed to see Sean O`Driscoll go and then there was the signing of all the foreign players for little money, which also split fans. I think he is slowly winning the doubters over this season.

3.Does the Keepmoat Stadium feel like home yet? Arguably, it`s been home to the most enjoyable times in Donny history.
Playing with it not even half-full is hard and there is very little atmosphere in the ground. It will never be Belle Vue and it does seem hard for many clubs moving into these purpose built mercano stadiums. The move did need to be made though for both financial and if the club was ever going to move onto another level.

4. What went wrong in the Championship?
To be honest, Rovers punched well above their weight for four seasons on a much lower budget than nearly all clubs in the division. It seemed to go all wrong halfway through the third season. Rovers were in a great position and possible outside play-off contenders but an horrendous injury list saw them go on a bad run and they never seemed to recover.

5. Former Swindon Town striker Billy Paynter is at Doncaster, How is he getting on?
OK - He keeps picking up the odd niggling injury but he is finding his feet after his disappointing spell at Leeds. Five goals already, so he should get double figures this season.

6. What player should Swindon Town fans be wary of?
David Cotterill - He is really beginning to play well and he is amongst the goals with eight this season. Watch out from the edge of the area as I think only one has been inside the penalty area.

7. What do you know about Swindon Town?
I actually live only 30 miles from Swindon and I have quite a few friends who follow Swindon. Saturday is like a derby game for me and the winners will have the bragging rights in the following days.

8.Is Paolo Di Canio good for lower league football?
When the appointment was made, I really for it was doomed to failure. I couldn`t see him becoming a good manager and when he had his spat with Clarke after a game, I thought - here we go. But you ran away with League Two last season and are doing ok this. I like him. I think the game needs characters like Di Canio.

9.Which Swindon Town player would you like to have at Doncaster?
I really like Matt Ritchie - A midfielder who chips in with a fair amount of goals.

10.What are your predictions for the match Saturday?
We come into it in great league form but the disappointment of two cup defeats in the cup in the last week. We have had quite a few players out injured and with a virus. I hope that most of them will be back on Saturday. We are playing really well away from home but after the last week, I will settle for a 1-1 draw.
